An Intimate Backyard Wedding Overlooking Fish Creek Park (Calgary, ALBERTa)

There’s something so whimsical about a backyard outdoor wedding and Cullen & Derik’s celebration was the perfect reminder that the most meaningful weddings are often the most personal.

Set overlooking the breathtaking beauty of Fish Creek Park in Calgary, their day was intimate, heartfelt, and filled with thoughtful details that reflected who they are and the people they love most. From start to finish, it felt warm, relaxed, and overflowing with laughter ... the kind of wedding that instantly makes you feel at home.

The Design

The celebration took place in the bride's parents' backyard, which was transformed into a stunning outdoor garden oasis. A gorgeous white tent was the centrepiece of the celebration, with long wooden tables lined with asymmetrical florals in bud vases. Lounge areas, cocktail tables and space heaters were thoughtfully placed throughout the space, inviting guests to gather, connect, and soak in the scenery. A beautifully styled outdoor bar kept the celebrations flowing, while lush, statement florals softened the space and brought a romantic elegance to the natural surroundings.

The Celebration

Following the simple ceremony on the ridge overlooking Fish Creek Park, their family & friends headed back to the house for a fun cocktail hour featuring a live oyster shucking station from Rodney's Oyster House, festive signature drinks and a carefully curated playlist from the bride & groom.

As the sun dipped behind the trees and the evening cooled, custom sweatshirts made their appearance, which was such a cozy detail that guests absolutely loved! This was just one of the many little details we loved, which also included a beautifully homemade welcome sign, an ice cream cooler delivered from Made by Marcus and the bespoke wedding attire the couple wore that was SO effortlessly stylish and perfectly suited to the relaxed elegance of the day!

Why We Loved It

This wedding was a perfect reminder that weddings don’t need to be large to be impactful. When you focus on meaningful details and creating an experience that feels true to you, magic just naturally follows.
